Economy is the barometer of Harper's credibility as an "economist"

Economy takes 3.4% dive

Quotes by Stephen Harper from the election campaign a few mere months ago:

"The only way there is going to be a recession is if they're (the Liberals) elected and that's why they're not going to be elected."

"My own belief is if we were going to have some kind of crash or recession, we probably would have had it by now."

"I think there are probably some great buying opportunities emerging in the stock market"

Today's reality:

OTTAWA — Gross domestic product contracted at an annual rate of 3.4 per cent over the final three months of the year, the biggest decline since 1991, Statistics Canada reported Monday.

Exports fell 4.7 per cent, the sixth consecutive quarterly drop, which represents the longest slump in more than 60 years of records, StatsCan said.

We have been hearing over the last few days that the Cons are about to launch their add campaign against the Liberal leader Michel Ignatieff.

At least we now know why---to deflect the increasing bad economic news away from the Prime Minister.

Hopefully , Iggy will not do a Stephane Dion on this one & will instead come out with guns blazing & lay it on the line for the Canadian people.

The economy is dying fast & the PM must be made to wear this stench by using the Conservative modus operandi against them.

Attack by telling the truth about the economy , fixed election dates , income trusts & the Chuck Cadman affair--video of Harper making bold & incompetent statements are everywhere & must be used against him.

The time is now to make the "trained economist" pay for his inconsistencies.
